Oettinger Davidoff Wraps Up 150 Years With Plenty Left in the Tank

Davidoff just closed out its 150th anniversary year, and honestly, the story here is pretty simple: the old-school luxury cigar house is still very much in the fight.

Oettinger Davidoff reported CHF 545.3 million in sales turnover for 2025, which is a strong showing considering the cigar world has been dealing with plenty of headwinds lately — tariffs, currency pressure, global uncertainty, and consumers being a little more selective with where they spend their money.

But for us as cigar enthusiasts, the more interesting part is what happened inside the humidor.

Davidoff’s own-brand cigar business performed well, with the flagship Davidoff brand up 2.4% and Zino jumping 16.1%. That Zino number is worth paying attention to. For a brand that has been positioned as a more approachable doorway into the Davidoff world, that kind of growth tells you people are still looking for premium cigars with real brand credibility, even if they are not always reaching for the highest-priced white-label Davidoff first.

The company also produced 36.6 million handmade premium cigars in 2025. That number was down slightly from the prior year, but Davidoff framed it as a production adjustment in response to market conditions, not a retreat. In plain English: they are watching the market, adjusting supply, and trying not to flood shelves just for the sake of chasing volume.

The Big Takeaway: Davidoff Is Investing, Not Coasting

The part I like most about this announcement is that Davidoff is not treating 150 years like a finish line.

They renovated major flagship stores, including Basel and Madison Avenue in New York, opened seven new stores in 2025, and plan to open nine more Davidoff boutiques across Europe, Asia, and Africa. That tells you they still believe in the luxury retail experience around cigars — not just boxes moving through warehouses.

They are also putting money into the actual cigar-making side of the business. Davidoff expanded its operations in the Dominican Republic and Honduras, including a new blending center in Villa González, expanded operations in Danlí, a larger box factory, and a new fermentation complex.

That matters because when a company talks about quality and consistency, the real proof is whether they are investing in tobacco, fermentation, blending, and production. Davidoff is doing that.

Beat Hauenstein’s Message: Stay Premium, Stay Consistent

CEO Beat Hauenstein said the company’s mission is to remain the global leader in handmade premium cigars while staying committed to quality and consistency. Strip away the executive language, and the message is: Davidoff knows exactly what lane it wants to own.

That is important because the premium cigar market is crowded. Boutique brands are louder than ever. Limited editions are everywhere. Consumers have options.

Davidoff’s play is different. They are leaning into legacy, precision, retail experience, and consistency. That may not always be the flashiest story in cigars, but it is a pretty powerful one when you are talking about a brand that has been around since 1875.

Why Cigar Smokers Should Care

For the average cigar smoker, this announcement is not about Swiss Francs or corporate strategy.

It is about confidence.

Davidoff is telling the market that after 150 years, they are still investing in the fields, the factories, the stores, and the brands. Zino is growing. Davidoff is holding strong. New product innovation is continuing. And the company is building like it expects the next chapter to be just as important as the last one.

That is good news for anyone who enjoys seeing the premium cigar industry stay healthy, competitive, and focused on quality.

Bottom line: Davidoff’s 150th anniversary was not just a celebration of where the company has been. It looks more like a signal that they are still serious about where they are going next.
