Habanos Festival 2026 Postponed — Cigar Aficionado Reports

According to a report published by Cigar Aficionado, the 2026 Habanos Festival — Cuba’s marquee cigar event scheduled to begin on February 23 — will not go on as originally planned and has been postponed. A new date has not yet been set and the Festival’s future timing remains uncertain.

This annual gathering in Havana has long been considered one of the most important events on the cigar calendar, bringing together retailers, distributors, media, and aficionados from around the world. For 2026, the Festival was slated to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the Cohiba brand, one of Cuban cigars’ most iconic names.

What Cigar Aficionado Reported

Cigar Aficionado notes that rumors of a cancellation or postponement have circulated within the Cuban cigar community for weeks. The decision appears linked to ongoing challenges in Cuba, including a protracted oil shortage and persistent power outages, which have made reliable transportation, fuel, and basic services difficult to maintain.

International travel has also been affected. The British government issued a warning advising against all but essential travel to Cuba, and several Canadian airlines have reportedly suspended service to the island due to fuel constraints.

Historical Context

The Habanos Festival has not run uninterrupted every year. The 2021 and 2022 events were canceled amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, while the Festival returned in 2023. This marks another interruption in the event’s long history.

While Cigar Aficionado attributes the postponement to deteriorating conditions in Cuba, organizers have not yet announced an official rescheduled date. Industry participants and potential attendees will likely be watching for confirmation from Habanos S.A. and authorized distributors in the weeks ahead.
