Plasencia El Año de la Cabra: Inside the 2027 Year of the Goat Release

The seventh chapter in Plasencia’s Chinese Zodiac series takes the form of a 6¼ × 60 Perfecto Figurado. El Año de la Cabra, created for the 2027 Year of the Goat, brings Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos into a limited release presented in a numbered red lacquered box.

Plasencia plans 6,000 individually numbered boxes of ten cigars worldwide. The suggested retail price is $60 per cigar, or $600 per box, according to the company’s release. A shipping date and market-by-market allocation were not specified in the materials supplied to Broward Cigar Board.

A blend rooted in Honduras

The cigar is handcrafted in Danlí, Honduras. Its wrapper comes from the Azacualpa area of Olancho, while the binder is grown in the Jamastrán Valley. Honduran tobacco from Jamastrán joins organically grown tobacco from Estelí, Nicaragua, in the filler.

That combination makes the blend a story of two growing regions as much as a Zodiac tribute. Plasencia’s product description calls out toasted oak and espresso at the start, followed by dark chocolate, dried fruit and earth, then walnut, cinnamon and clove. Those are the maker’s tasting notes, not a Broward Cigar Board review.

Why the Perfecto matters

The 6¼ × 60 Perfecto Figurado narrows at both ends, a shape that demands consistency from the rollers who make it. Plasencia says Néstor Andrés Plasencia personally oversaw the vitola, which is produced with aged tobaccos from the family’s reserves.

“The goat represents a quiet but powerful strength,” said Néstor Andrés Plasencia, the family’s fifth generation, in the release. He connected that idea to patience, balance and the family’s work with tobacco over more than 160 years.

A box designed for the occasion

The red lacquered wooden box carries gold details and a spiral motif inspired by a goat’s horn. Plasencia also points to the traditional Chinese hóngb?o—the red envelope associated with Lunar New Year gifting—as an influence on the presentation. The company says the ten-count box includes individual cigar gift boxes.
