Joya de Nicaragua Unveils Clásico Original Green Room Selection

Joya de Nicaragua is tapping into its deep roots with a release that feels more like a tribute than just another cigar drop.

Introducing the Clásico Original Green Room Selection — a limited release that honors both the brand’s historic beginnings and the timeless ritual of enjoying a cigar wherever you call your own “Green Room.”

This one leans heavily into heritage, and honestly, it’s a cool reminder of just how far Nicaraguan cigars have come.

A Nod to 1968 and the Birth of Nicaraguan Cigars

Back in 1968, Joya de Nicaragua opened the first premium cigar factory in Estelí — a moment that helped put Nicaragua on the global cigar map.

The original JDN Clásico became the first premium cigar exported from Nicaragua and quickly gained traction in the U.S. during the 1970s.

But one of the more unique pieces of that history?
Joya cigars were reportedly enjoyed in the White House Green Room, where diplomats and officials would unwind after formal events.

The Meaning Behind “Green Room”

While the name comes from that historical setting, Joya is putting a modern spin on the concept.

As Juan Martínez explains, the “Green Room” today is wherever you create that moment:

  • Your back porch
  • Your favorite lounge
  • A chair at home
  • A night out with friends

It’s less about location and more about the experience — that shared moment cigars create.

Clásico Original Green Room Selection Specs

This release features a format that goes way back in Joya’s history.

Vitola: 6 x 54 Diadema
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua

The Diadema is one of the oldest formats still rolled at the Estelí factory, which adds another layer of authenticity to the release.

Flavor Profile

This is classic Clásico through and through.

Expect a mild, refined profile with:

  • Creamy texture
  • Woody notes
  • Subtle pepper on the finish

It’s the kind of cigar that leans into balance and smoothness — very much in line with the original Clásico DNA.

Production & Availability

  • Production: 1,200 boxes total
    • 700 U.S.
    • 500 international
  • Packaging: 20-count boxes
  • MSRP: $13.50 per cigar / $270 per box

The cigar will debut at the PCA Trade Show 2026 in New Orleans (SAG Imports booth #3447), with shipments scheduled shortly after.

Final Thoughts

This isn’t a flashy release — and that’s exactly the point.

The Clásico Original Green Room Selection feels like a return to fundamentals: history, craftsmanship, and the idea that cigars are about connection more than anything else.

From Estelí to your own personal “Green Room,” this one is all about the experience.
