Pospiech Cigars Introduces Powstanie Sumatra as New Core Line at PCA 2026
Pospiech Cigars Inc. is expanding its Powstanie portfolio with the introduction of Powstanie Sumatra, a new core line set to debut at the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show. The release marks a notable addition to the brand’s lineup, built around an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper and produced at the Nica Sueño factory in Nicaragua.

Background / Context
Powstanie has built a reputation for delivering bold, structured blends with a focus on balance and construction. With Sumatra, the brand is stepping into a wrapper category known for nuance and complexity, while maintaining the fuller-bodied identity that defines the portfolio.
According to owner Mike Szczepankiewicz, the project has been in development for some time, with the goal of creating a Sumatra-forward blend that stands out within the current market.
Blend Details
The Powstanie Sumatra is centered around a silky Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, supported by a unique binder combination and multi-origin filler blend:
- Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra
- Binder: Mexico & Pennsylvania (dual binder)
- Filler: Dominican Republic & Nicaragua
The dual binder approach adds structural depth, while the filler combination is designed to balance creaminess and spice throughout the smoking experience.
Production takes place at the Nica Sueño factory, known for its work with brands like RoMa Craft Tobac.

Why It Matters
Sumatra-wrapped cigars often occupy a middle ground between strength and complexity, but Pospiech appears to be pushing this release toward a more full-flavored, structured profile—staying consistent with the Powstanie identity.
The use of a dual binder (Mexico and Pennsylvania) is also notable, adding a layer of construction and flavor complexity not commonly seen in core line releases.
For retailers, this positions Powstanie Sumatra as a bridge product—appealing to both seasoned smokers looking for depth and those exploring beyond more traditional wrapper profiles.
