United Cigars Makes Independence a Permanent Line After Firecracker Sell-Out
United Cigars is making Independence a permanent offering following the nationwide sell-out of the Independence Firecracker. Produced as part of the Arnold André premium cigar portfolio, the new core-line release keeps the Firecracker’s blend intact while expanding it into two traditional vitolas without the original’s signature fuse cap.

Independence is scheduled to begin shipping to retailers on August 27, 2026.
From Firecracker Success to Permanent Line
The Independence Firecracker was created to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the United States and quickly became one of the fastest-selling limited releases of 2026. Rather than retire the blend after the Firecracker run, United Cigars is carrying it forward as an ongoing offering through the Arnold André portfolio.
“Why mess with success?” said Oliver Nivaud of United Cigars, which oversees the U.S. premium cigar portfolio that includes Arnold André, Montosa, and Terra Nova.
The move follows a familiar path in the premium cigar industry. Previous Firecracker collaborations including Mi Querida Triqui Traca and Fratello Fuoco Oro also moved into broader production after successful limited-edition launches.
The Blend Remains Unchanged
United Cigars is keeping the blend unchanged from the Firecracker release:

- Wrapper: Mexican Habano
- Binder: Dominican
- Filler: Dominican and Nicaraguan ligero
- Profile: Full bodied, with floral sweetness, toasted grain, baking spices, earth, and pepper
The additional vitolas are designed to deliver the same bold smoking experience that made the Firecracker popular with retailers and consumers. The key difference is presentation: the Robusto and Toro will not feature the Firecracker’s iconic fuse cap.
Sizes, Packaging, and Pricing
Independence launches in two sizes:
| Vitola | Size | Single | 12-Count Tin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Robusto | 4 7/8 x 50 | $10.50 | $126 |
| Toro | 5 7/8 x 50 | $11.00 | $132 |
Both formats will be packaged in the brand’s signature 12-count collectible tin. The tin is marked with “Land of the Free” and “Home of the Brave” and can be repurposed as a personal cigar ashtray once empty.

Shipping August 27
The Independence Robusto and Toro are scheduled to begin shipping to retailers on August 27, 2026. As a permanent United Cigars offering within the Arnold André portfolio, the line should be easier to find over time than the sold-out Firecracker, although initial demand is likely to be strong among smokers who missed the limited release.
The Bottom Line
Independence is a strong example of United Cigars turning a successful limited collaboration into a permanent offering. The Firecracker’s blend, which combines Dominican and Nicaraguan ligero with a Dominican binder and Mexican Habano wrapper, now gets a longer life in two practical everyday sizes.
For fans of the original Firecracker, the Robusto and Toro offer the same core profile without the limited-edition fuse cap. For everyone else, Independence provides United Cigars with a permanent offering and gives the Arnold André portfolio a clear origin story at an accessible price.
