Powstanie Sumatra Officially Ships to Retailers Nationwide

Pospiech Cigars has officially begun shipping the new Powstanie Sumatra to retailers across the country, marking the full release of the brand’s latest core line addition following its debut earlier this year at PCA 2026.

Produced at the Nica Sueño factory in Nicaragua, Powstanie Sumatra expands the portfolio with a blend centered around an Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed wrapper and a multi-national filler combination designed to deliver complexity and balance.

Behind the Roll

Powstanie has steadily built a reputation around bold, structured blends with strong construction and consistent performance. With Sumatra, the company moves into a wrapper category known more for nuance and layered flavor than outright strength—while still staying aligned with the brand’s fuller-bodied identity.

According to National Sales Manager Mike Palmer, the blend was developed specifically around feedback from both retailers and consumers looking for something distinct within the existing Powstanie lineup.

The cigar is produced at Fábrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño S.A., the same factory behind the company’s established core releases.

Blend Details

Powstanie Sumatra features:

  • Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed
  • Binder: Mexico & Pennsylvania
  • Filler: Dominican Republic & Nicaragua

The use of dual binders adds additional depth and structure to the blend, helping distinguish it from more traditional Sumatra-focused cigars currently on the market.

Sizes / Pricing / Production

Powstanie Sumatra is offered in four box-pressed vitolas:

  • Petit Robusto — 4 3/4 x 50 | MSRP $13.50
  • Gran Robusto — 5 1/2 x 52 | MSRP $14.00
  • Gran Toro — 6 1/4 x 52 | MSRP $16.00
  • Churchill — 7 x 48 | MSRP $15.50
  • Packaging: 21-count boxes
  • Initial Production: Approximately 20,000 cigars

Release Info

Retailers who secured early allocations should begin receiving shipments immediately, with broader availability rolling out nationwide over the coming weeks.

The release follows strong momentum for the Powstanie brand throughout 2025, including multiple 90+ ratings and recognition for the Powstanie San Andrés Belicoso.

Why It Matters

Powstanie Sumatra arrives at a time when Sumatra-wrapped cigars continue to gain traction among smokers looking for complexity without overwhelming strength.

For Pospiech, this release does a few important things:

  • Expands the core lineup without overlapping existing profiles
  • Introduces new vitola sizing unique to the brand
  • Reinforces the company’s focus on retailer-driven product development

The limited first production run also suggests a measured rollout strategy—allowing the company to maintain quality control while gauging long-term demand.

For retailers, Powstanie Sumatra fills a useful lane: a boutique cigar with enough depth for experienced smokers, but balanced enough to appeal beyond the heavy-full-strength crowd.
