BCB Weekly Cigar Roundup — Week of July 6 to July 12, 2026
Published: July 12, 2026 | browardcigarboard.com
It was a full week for the premium cigar industry, running the range from mourning to litigation to new product news. Broward Cigar Board covered the passing of Drew Estate CEO Glenn Wolfson, a retailer-exclusive annual release from JRE Tobacco, and a fresh legal challenge nine manufacturers have brought against the FDA. Beyond BCB’s own reporting, the week also brought two celebrity-tied cigar launches, a new brand’s coming debut, and a handful of shipping notices and event announcements worth tracking.
What We Published This Week
- Nine Cigar Makers Sue FDA for $10 Million in User Fee Refunds — Nine premium cigar makers, including Arturo Fuente, Padrón, and Oliva, filed suit against the FDA seeking at least $10 million in user fees the agency allegedly lacked authority to collect.
- Remembering Glenn Wolfson, the Steady Hand Behind Drew Estate’s Biggest Decade — A look back at Drew Estate CEO Glenn Wolfson’s decade of leadership following his passing at 70.
- Camp Aladino Returns for 2026—But You’ll Have to Find One of the Right Retailers — JRE Tobacco’s retailer-exclusive annual release returned for 2026, available only through the roughly 80 stores nationwide that have visited the Honduras farm.
Industry Stories We’re Watching
AG Cigars introduced a new “Legendary Moment” series pairing actor Jamie Foxx and NFL Hall of Famer Ray Lewis, each with his own cigar produced at the JTA Tobacco Company S.A. factory in Nicaragua. Both releases carry a $27 MSRP and are limited to 1,500 boxes of 10, and began shipping earlier this month, according to halfwheel.
A new brand, Martello Cigar Co., is preparing to debut next month with its first release, Ortolan, a limited edition made at El Titan de Bronze and packaged in porcelain jars. Blend details, sizing, and pricing have not yet been made public, per halfwheel.
Patina Cigars is planning a new offshoot of its Red Pill line that swaps the original’s Mexican San Andrés oscuro wrapper for an Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed oscuro leaf. Pricing and a release date have not been announced, according to halfwheel.
Shipping & Events
Topper Cigar Co. shipped a half-dozen new SKUs to retailers this week, including a new line and several extensions of its 1894 and 125th Anniversary series (halfwheel). Conor McGregor’s Notorious Cigars began shipping two new blends, Crème de la Crème and Unapologetic, joining its debut Notorious line (halfwheel). Registration opened for Puro Sabor 2027, the Nicaraguan cigar industry’s factory-tour festival, set for January 25–30 in Managua and Estelí (halfwheel). CULT Lounge & Boutique opened in Kazakhstan, marking continued international expansion of cigar retail (Cigar Journal). Bay Royal Cigar Network held the third installment of its Bay Royal Havana event series (Cigar Journal).
Also Noted
The Premium Cigar Association profiled Outcast Cigars, a brand built around a bright yellow, panther-branded package and a blend built on pipe-tobacco leaves rather than typical premium tobacco (PCA). A Cigar Journal listing also pointed to a CLE-branded cigar evening hosted by Dom Cigars; the item’s posted event dates referenced July 2025, an apparent syndication error, so details should be confirmed directly with the host before sharing further.
