My Visit To Rodriguez Cigars

Seems that I have started an annual tradition of taking my wife away for a few nights before she heads back to work. 2020, being the bear of a year it has been, made us rethink our plans and we decided on a last minute over night to the Keys. I had previously heard an interview with Daniel DiFabio of Rodriguez Cigars on the Hot Ticket Podcast and knew I had to stop in and check out their shop.

The shop is currently the oldest cigar manufacturer in the Florida Keys. Rodriguez Cigars believes in doing things the old way, Daniel has worked hard to keep his family traditions alive.

Since Key West is a cruise ship destination, Rodriguez Cigars offers visitors a tour which includes some history, some Cuban coffee, some knowledge about the leaf, some more Cuban coffee and then some hands on cigar rolling lessons. Daniel and his staff were very welcoming and for a cigar geek like me; this tour was the perfect way to pass the time in the Keys. Even the wife enjoyed the tour and learned to roll a cigar. (I smoked the stick my wife rolled the following day and it was fantastic!)

We got to enjoy one of Rodriguez’s best sticks, the Rare Reserve Primera Clase, which to my palate bested a certain award winning stick made by big O. The construction, burn and flavors were excellent. We both brought home a sampler so we could try some of Rodriguez Cigars other blends. This shop has something for every taste and preference. If you find yourself in Key West, take a moment to stop in and visit Daniel and the crew, tell them the @browardcigarboard sent you!

Their website (below) has an online store where you can purchase your own cigars. Daniel has also graciously provided our group with a discount code to use when ordering online.
