Ferio Tego Celebrates 30 Years of Metropolitan with Limited-Edition Toro
Ferio Tego has announced an anniversary release honoring three decades of the Metropolitan brand, one of the longest-running and most consistent portfolios in the modern premium cigar world. The new release, Ferio Tego Metropolitan 30 Years, commemorates the history of the line with a special limited-production toro handcrafted in the Dominican Republic by the Quesada family — the same makers who originally developed Metropolitan in the mid-1990s.
A Legacy of Consistency
First introduced in the mid-1990s as part of the original Metropolitan lineup with Connecticut and Maduro blends, the brand has expanded deliberately over time rather than chasing short-lived trends. Metropolitan added a Habano expression in 2016 and incorporated the Host blends into the Metropolitan Selection umbrella in 2018, maintaining production in the same Dominican factory where it was originally crafted.
This kind of production continuity — with the same factory and often similar tobacco sources — has become increasingly rare in an industry that frequently shifts manufacturing to meet short-term demand.

The Ferio Tego Metropolitan 30 Years celebrates this heritage with a new toro that builds on the classic Metropolitan balance while offering a bit more richness appropriate for an anniversary expression.

Ferio Tego co-owner Michael Herklots describes Metropolitan as a brand that has served many roles over the years — from a first cigar to a go-to everyday stick, to a celebratory smoke — and notes that this new release pays tribute to that legacy while subtly enriching the profile for today’s palates.
What Makes This Release Special
The anniversary toro is designed to reflect Metropolitan’s hallmark balance, but with a deeper, more complex body that acknowledges both tradition and the evolution of smoker preferences over 30 years. Herklots explained that some of the original Metropolitan blends were developed more than three decades ago with an “old-world approach,” and that the 30 Years expression deepens and enriches those core flavors without losing the character that made Metropolitan a staple.
For retailers, the release also highlights the ongoing value of heritage brands that maintain long-term shelf presence rather than jumping from trend to trend — a factor that continues to foster repeat consumer relationships and brand loyalty.
Ferio Tego’s portfolio, including the Metropolitan Selection, is distributed in the United States by Davidoff of Geneva USA, ensuring qualifying retailers nationwide can access the anniversary release.
Final Thoughts
Three decades is a major milestone in any part of the cigar world, and the Metropolitan brand has earned its reputation by staying true to its origins while adapting just enough to stay relevant. The Metropolitan 30 Years release strikes that balance — honoring the past while offering something meaningful for today’s smokers.
