Perez-Carrillo Ascend Arrives at Cigar Shops Nationwide

The Perez-Carrillo Series is climbing a little higher with the arrival of Ascend, the newest cigar from legendary master blender Ernesto Perez-Carrillo.

Ascend is now available at cigar retailers nationwide, joining La Historia, Encore, Pledge, and Allegiance in a collection that has produced some of the most celebrated releases in the modern premium cigar industry.

For smokers already familiar with the series, Ascend represents another opportunity to see how Perez-Carrillo approaches balance, complexity, and refinement—this time through an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and an all-Nicaraguan interior.

Inside the Ascend Blend

Ascend is built around an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper placed over a Nicaraguan binder from Estelí and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos.

The complete blend consists of:

  • Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
  • Binder: Nicaragua, Estelí
  • Filler: Nicaragua

Casa Carrillo describes the cigar as balanced, complex, and refined, with a profile designed to deliver a consistently elevated smoking experience.

Three Sizes at Launch

Perez-Carrillo Ascend is being released in three vitolas:

  • Saddle — 5 x 50
  • Ridge — 6 x 52
  • Peak — 6¼ x 58

While those dimensions correspond generally with Robusto, Toro, and Gordo formats, each size carries a climbing-inspired name that reinforces the Ascend identity.

Ascend Joins an Award-Winning Family

Ascend has some serious company within the Perez-Carrillo Series.

La Historia helped establish the collection, while Encore, Pledge, and Allegiance continued building its reputation among enthusiasts. The series has become a showcase for Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s blending style and his ability to create distinctive cigars without losing the balance and craftsmanship associated with the family name.

That legacy also gives Ascend a high bar to clear. This is not being introduced as a disconnected side project—it is positioned as the next chapter in one of Casa Carrillo’s most important cigar collections.

Why This Release Matters

Adding a cigar to an established and highly regarded series always invites comparisons with what came before it. Smokers will naturally want to know whether Ascend shares any family resemblance with La Historia, Encore, Pledge, or Allegiance—and whether it can develop an identity of its own.

The Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and Nicaraguan core suggest a blend with enough body and flavor to command attention, but the real test will be how Ernesto Perez-Carrillo has balanced those components across the three sizes.

Ascend is now shipping to cigar shops nationwide. Enthusiasts interested in trying it should check with their preferred local retailer for availability.
